Prima donna, enchant us once again! (Cosette)
« Thread Started on Feb 21, 2007, 5:45pm »

Toting a huge bouquet dark red roses, with one rare black rose in the center and tied with a black velvet ribbon, Michael walked backstage in the Glorianna Theatre to the door of his comely wife's dressing room. This was the first time Michael had personally come the proper way to this dressing room. And he was a little nervous, afraid the strain of the performance would overwhelm Cosette and cause another fainting spell.
He knocked and called, "Nightinggale?"

Cosette heard her husband's voice through the door and gave a shriek of delight, she ran from her imploring maid, and flung the door wide open,
"Angel!" she cried, and embraced her darling, her flowing petticoats billowing around them. She wore a red velvet dressing robe that had been a present from Michael only the night before, it was in an old-fashioned baroque style (for he knew of her love for the theatrical and dramatic in her clothing) and contrasted perfectly with her creamy white skin.
"How glad I am that you have come before the peformance and are not been ogled by the audience from the royal box." she rolled her eyes and sighed, leading him further into the room,
"How strange it feels to be giving up the stage for a while! But then, I intend only to sing in the most respectable circumstances now I am your wife, and a princess of Denmark!" she giggled excitedly, she could not wait to have her time solely devoted to him. For she adored him even more now that he had released the caged passion within her.

Chuckling heartily, he loosed himself from her grasp and shook the nearly crushed roses gently to bring back life to them. "I have never seen you so excited as to nearly ruin your favourite flowers, sweeting!" he teased, then kissed her sweetly on the lips, handing the bouquet to her. "I think I will quite enjoy seeing you perform here again, in the place I fell deeply in love with you. And in the same production as well!" Michael smiled brightly at her, and then drew out a jewelry box from his coat. His jade orbs sparkled with the excitement of her surprise at what he had for her.

Cosette rolled her eyes at her own giddiness and then giggled again. She embraced the bouquet of roses as if they were sisters. Gasping with delight at their sweet, sultry scent and vibrant, romantic colour. She gave a stange, sweet smile at the sight of the black one, and pulled it out before she handed the flowers to her maid to place and arrange in a vase, she enhaled it's deadly allurments, running a petal over her red lips, before placing it's (thornless) stem in between her cleavage and next to her heart.
"And I shall sing only for you tonight, and every night I sing, Michael darling."

"As I will forever compose and sing only for you, my precious Cosette..." he murmured back, before pulling her abruptly to him with one strong arm around her small waist. He was careful not to smash the poignant new decor of her decolletage, but had another adornment he wished to give her. Handing her the scarlett velvet box, he whispered to her in a husky growl, "For my very own moon goddess, from her Endymion, to forever remember your last engagement of this glorious production..."
Inside was a simple but stunning necklace: a silver cresant moon with an interlocking matching moon in diamonds comprised the pendant.

Cosette gaped in surprise and then amazement. She fingered the necklace with admiring awe, for she had never seen anything so delicate or sentimental. It would always have great value to her, it's worth unknown save to herself and her husband.
She turned around wordlessly, so that he could fasten it around her swan like neck.

Michael followed her lead and clasped it securely around her pale slender neck, sealing it with a hot kiss on the tender nape where his favourite few curls resided. Turning her to look in the mirror that lead to their lair, he wrapped his arms around her from behind. "May it bring you all the strength and courage to finish this night with the best performance of your life, my darling princess. Break a leg, darling..."

"I don't need any lucky charm with your arms around my waist." she said simply, before wrapping her arms around his neck, and leaning back against him affectionately, looking forward to the first few weeks of married life without the stress of family or fashion or the stage. It would just be a dark angel and his nightingale...
A knock at the door made her jump,
"Ten minutes, your highness."
Cosette squeaked and dashed to the dressing table to finish getting into her costume, and laughing at her scandalised maid's actions as she tried to usher Michael from the room, she tossed him a red rose, and blew him a kiss.

Michael returned the blown kiss and retreated sheepishly, winking at the maid to get up her dander further. With a hop in his step, the prince made his way through the maze of backstage and the private hallway to his box. His mother and father, still in town for a week or so, had decided to join him there as well as his brother Erik. He had invited the Marquis and his son and new daughter-in-law, but they had declined to sit in the royal box, already having seats elsewhere. He kissed his mother tenderly when he entered and bowed to his sibling and father. Sitting in his usual seat, but now out of the shadows, Michael watched the masses below gawk at the royal box and whisper. But this time, he knew the gossip to be about the felicity being reported about his new marriage.

That night Cosette out did herself, when she first entered in her white and silver outfit and facial paint, she seemed so sad and lonely that half the women were in tears by the end of her first aria, and by the end of her first love duet with Endymion, the men's blood was boiling with jealousy. Never had she been so alive and passionate. She sang with warmth and heavenly haunting. Her sweet tone piercing the silence long after the music was finished. When she clutched the body of her dead lover at the end, the orchestra had to play even louder because of the rustling of handkerchiefs around the auditorium, for there was scarcely a dry eye in the house.
Both father and son watched their daughter and sister with hearts swollen with pride, love it seemed had turned her from a sparrow into a skylark, and her voice soared higher and clearer than ever before. Yes, he must love her very much...she had made the right decision..
Erik had to cough and frown a lot, clenching his fists and willing himself not to cry, utterly enraptured by his sister-in-law...

Truly moved by his wife's flawless performance and the emotion that sizzled through the theater from her, Michael never shed a tear, but instead a constant and handsome smile graced his features - his pride and love evident in his ardent gaze that never left the moon goddess once through the night. Well, except to hand his hankercheif cheekily to his brother and wink at him.
The King and Queen were on their feet before the curtain fell, calling "Bravah! Prima Donna! Encore!" along with the rest of the audience. Michael stood as well, clapping for his ravishing bride and needing to hold her right at that moment.

Cosette came out to the front of the stage, curtsying deeply, her white skirts blooming all around her, and she rose, applauded the orchestra, recieved several bouquets, almost as large as herself! She had eight bows in total, for the audience went wild with appreciation, and a standing ovation, and roses fell upon the stage, almost covering it completely, upon her last curtain call, she blew an extravagant and ardent kiss up to where Michael sat, before dashing off stage to wait for him behind the curtains...

"Majesties, please excuse me..." Michael said with a bow, "I will return with the starlett for congratulations after she has changed. There is a private parlour with refreshments just across the hall. We will meet you there." With that he was gone.
Michael rushed through the dark hallways, finally reaching the bustling backstage. Many congratulations and jealous comments were thrown his way as he rushed to where she had exited.
Seeing only the white skirts and the slender neck he knew so well, Michael snuck up on her from behind and whispered in a deep timber, "Nightinggale, you were exquisite... come..."
The dark prince drew her hastily into the deep darkness of the backstage galleys.
