A Visitor for Lady Elizabeth « Thread Started on Jul 27, 2006, 7:05pm »
Lionel took a place on a commodious chair, letting his gaze travel along the brocaded rugs up the walls to the fine tapestries that hung gracefully from metal rods. Large support beams streched along the ceiling. A moderatly sized, yet tasteful crystal chandielier took its place in the huge space towering over Lionel's head.
Servants bustled about, carrying trays of tea, along with gowns and garments, accordingly. Lionel supposed these requests were of Lady Elizabeth's desire, for they were heading up the long staircase and into the recesses of the mansion. With patience, Lionel sat and waited for an invitation.

After some time had elapsed Lionel noticed the rush of servants had slowed. Perhaps the Lady of the house was finished preparing herself for the day.
Lionel picked himself off his chair and walked over to the nearest servant, startling her as he tapped her shoulder. "Miss, would you mind taking a message to Lady Elisabeth?" The younger woman nodded her head, a respect for the man in front of her keeping her silent. Lionel smiled at her, trying to undo the unease he had caused. "Tell her that Sir Lionel Durant has accepted her invitation for tea and that he is downstairs, awaiting her." The maid bowed. "As you wish. I will tell the Misses." With that, she hustled up the stairs with the speed of a rabbit to her dear lady's chambers.

Servants rushed about the entire manor. They weren't just at Elisabeth's bidding ,but also Lord William and his two other children. Getting ready for the day caused much of a stir in the estate for there was much to be done. For the servants there was cleaning, cooking, gardening, preparing, errons and the sort. For the residents there was planning, organizing, working, learning, lessons, and social occasions. All the rushing was finished at about 6 o' clock ,yet there was still more rushing.
More servants entered Elisabeth's room, offering different styles of things. It was quite over-whelming especially if your not used to it. Elizabeth kept guessing which her father and guests would prefer. There was also the hair and the clothes to deal with. Shortly it all gave Elisabeth her usual head ache in the morning. Even with this ache she got ready in the usual short and stern time of 30 minutes.
As she put on her last garment, her jeweled necklace, a servant with a message. Shyly the young woman went to Elizabeth. "Miss Elizabeth, Sir Lionel Durant accepted your invitation for tea and that he is downstairs, awaiting you." Glad that that was over a relived look went on the maid's face.
A smile lighted Elisabeth's face. "Thank you, Lindy. Please give my father this message. Then tell Sir Lionel Durant that I will be right down." Lindy nodded her head and bowed. Then the maid timidly bustled to Lord William's chambers. Shortly the servant hustled down stairs and told Sir Lionel Durant the message from Lady Elisabeth Blaisdale.
In her dorm Elisabeth was looking over her already planned day. Hmm. Daily stroll in the park. Lessons reviewing etiquette and more piano lessons. Oh! There's a ball this evening! How lovely! Once finished she walking gracefully down stairs, greeting the day with stride. Her father passed by her with a short nod of a hello and continued over to the library, servants following behind.
Elisabeth entered the lounge, her eyes softly getting used to the light. Walking over to Lionel, she curtsied. "I am Lady Elisabeth Blaisdale. I presume your Sir Lionel Durant?"

Lionel's eyes lifted from their former position to the beauty that stood before him. Lady Blaisdale's stature resembled that of a tree, equally strong and proud. Yet, her firm attributes could not hide the loveliness of her misty blue eyes, the purity and sincerity of her smile, or the melodious sound that coated her voice.
Lionel bent with great respect for the nymph before him, taking one of her delicate hands in his own and allowing his lips to softly carass her satin fingertips.
"Indeed. I recieved your letter no later than two days ago and I was enthusiastic to meet with you." Lionel deliberately pulled off his riding gloves and let them slip into his pocket. It was improper for him to have had them on in the first place! He mentally chastised himself. How could he let his concentration desert him like that?

Her eyes danced with laughter when she noticed he was still wearing his riding gloves. Then his words rang in her ears as if they were floating on air. Lionel's blue eyes seemed to be an endless sea just waiting to be searched. His ways were truly one of a gentleman. He was quite attractive to Elisabeth.
"I'm delighted that you came, Lionel." A soft look went onto her face with a genuine smile.
